Privacy Policy for Parental Control Software (Compliant with U.S. Laws including COPPA and CCPA)

Effective Date: [2/5/2025]

1. Introduction

This software (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides parents and legal guardians (“parents”) with tools to manage their child’s use of computers and other devices. We are committed to complying with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) , the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) , and other applicable U.S. state privacy laws. Parents must review this policy with their child and provide verifiable parental consent before allowing a child under 13 (or under 16 in some states) to use the managed device.

We collect only minimal data strictly necessary for technical operation. Most sensitive data (e.g., screenshots, app usage logs) are stored locally on the managed device and are never automatically uploaded to our servers.

2. Information We Collect – Two Categories

2.1 Local-Only Data (Stored solely on the managed device; we have no remote access)

Data TypeDescriptionRetention
App InformationRunning app names, process IDs, foreground usage duration (for activity reports) 6 months
Device Operation LogsComputer on/off times until local logs are cleared
Network ActivityParent-defined blocked domains/IPs manual deletion
ScreenshotsTemporary screenshots generated upon parent’s manual request – encrypted manual deletion

Note: We have no technical ability to retrieve these local data. Parents may view them only via a direct, end-to-end encrypted connection from their mobile device.

2.2 Server-Stored Information (for account management & service adaptation)

We do not collect: precise geolocation, contact lists, browser history, chat content, or any persistent identifiers beyond the device ID.

3. COPPA Compliance (Children Under 13)

Verifiable Parental Consent – Before any information is collected from a child (including device ID or OS version), we require the parent to:

Provide a valid email address or phone number,

Respond to a confirmation message, and

Explicitly agree to this Privacy Policy.

No Direct Collection from Children – The software interface on the child’s computer does not ask for any personal information. All controls are accessed via the parent’s separate mobile app.

Parent’s Rights – Parents may review, delete, or contacting us refuse further collection of their child’s information at any time . Deleting the child’s device from the account removes all server-side data.

Data Retention – Server-side data related to a child is deleted within 180 days after account termination or upon parental request.

4. CCPA & Other State Privacy Rights (for California residents and similar)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose (see Sections 2 & 5).

Delete your personal information (including your child’s), subject to exceptions.

Opt-out of the “sale” of personal information – we do not sell any personal information (including for cross-context behavioral advertising).

Non-discrimination – Exercising your privacy rights will not affect service quality.

To exercise any of these rights, please email service@stellarorigin.cn with “CCPA Request” in the subject line. We will verify your identity (e.g., via account credentials) and respond within 45 days.
